Isoamyl xanthate potassium is a flotation agent that combines both emulsifying power and selectivity. It appears as a light yellow crystalline powder, is soluble in water, has no obvious odor, and is suitable for the flotation of various sulfide ores. It can also be used as an auxiliary agent in the field of organic synthesis. The material is composed of core raw materials such as isoamyl alcohol, dithiocarbonic acid, and potassium hydroxide, which are precisely proportioned for synthesis. It has high purity, few impurities, and is not prone to caking. It maintains good stability at room temperature.

• Appearance: A pale yellow to yellow-green crystalline powder or granules, possessing the characteristic pungent sulfurous odor typical of xanthates.
• Solubility: Easily soluble in water and ethanol; aqueous solutions exhibit weak alkalinity. Sparingly soluble in non-polar organic solvents such as gasoline and benzene.
• Stability: Stable under dry, sealed conditions at ambient temperature. Highly hygroscopic and prone to caking. Rapidly decomposes upon contact with strong acids, releasing toxic carbon disulfide gas. High temperatures, high humidity, and exposure to direct sunlight accelerate decomposition and lead to loss of efficacy.
• Flotation Characteristics: Features a relatively long carbon chain and strong hydrophobicity. Exhibits extremely strong collecting power, while its selectivity is moderate to weak. Foaming properties are moderate; its flotation activity is superior to that of butyl, isopropyl, and ethyl xanthates, and is comparable to that of potassium *n*-amyl xanthate.
• Other Physical Properties: Hygroscopic and combustible. Upon thermal decomposition at high temperatures, it generates toxic fumes containing sulfur oxides, which are irritating to the skin and respiratory tract.
