The 28th China Mining Conference and Exhibition (CMCE 2026) was held from September 10 to 12 at the Tianjin Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center. Under the theme "Win-Win Cooperation, Green and Intelligent Development," the event was guided by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Tianjin Municipal People's Government, and hosted by the China Mining Association. A record 60 countries and international organizations sent representatives, the highest number in the conference's 28-year history.
High-Level Attendance and International Cooperation
The Ministerial Forum on International Mining Cooperation and the opening ceremony were held on September 10. Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng attended and addressed the opening ceremony. This year's conference introduced a mining rights trading segment for the first time, alongside the traditional forum and exhibition components. A total of 28 forums were organized-one thematic forum, six high-level forums, and 21 specialized forums-covering topics such as high-quality mining development, green and smart mine construction, mine ecological restoration, digital mining, and mining capital markets.
Expanded Scale with Record Exhibition Space
The exhibition area reached 65,000 square meters, a record for the event, attracting more than 650 Chinese and international exhibitors. The exhibition featured dedicated zones for major mining enterprises, international participants, smart mining, and new energy, showcasing the latest technologies and equipment in the global mining sector. Key industry reports, including the China Mineral Resources Report 2026 and the Global Mining Development Report 2026, were released during the conference.
Mining Rights Trading Debut Yields 300 Million Yuan in Signings
The newly established mining rights trading segment was a highlight of this year's event. The conference showcased 204 projects, including 180 mining rights projects spanning 18 Chinese provinces and 28 overseas countries, covering more than 30 mineral types. During the event, 13 major projects underwent negotiation, with 11 reaching preliminary cooperation intentions. A total of 28 on-site contracts, three memoranda of understanding, and one cooperation agreement were signed, with a total contract value of 300 million yuan. Nine country-specific promotion sessions were held for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mongolia, Ghana, Brazil, Kazakhstan, and Botswana, among others, presenting 43 projects and facilitating targeted matchmaking between Chinese mining enterprises and their international counterparts.
The conference drew 59,000 visits, with more than 600 Chinese and international companies participating, underscoring the CMCE's role as a key platform for exchange and cooperation in the global mining industry
