Sodium Butyl Xanthate (SBX, also named Sodium O-butyldithiocarbonate), formula C5H9NaOS2, CAS 141-33-3, is the most widely used and highest-volume collector among xanthate-type flotation reagents. It is supplied as yellow to yellow-green granules with a characteristic sulfide odor, dissolves readily in water and forms an alkaline solution. The product guarantees an active content of at least 90.0% and is shipped directly from our plant in Shandong, China.

Main features and applications:

Balanced collecting power and selectivity, effectively enhancing the hydrophobicity of chalcopyrite, galena, sphalerite and other sulfide minerals; suitable for both bulk and selective flotation circuits.

Applicable to copper ores (chalcopyrite), lead-zinc ores, polymetallic sulfide ores, gold-bearing pyrite and copper-sulfate-activated sphalerite.

Typical dosage 20–120 g/t depending on ore type and pulp conditions; bench-scale flotation tests are recommended to determine the optimum dosage, addition point and pH.

Works well with dithiophosphate collectors, frothers and modifiers to build a complete reagent regime.

Packaging: 25 kg woven bags with PE liner, wooden cases (about 850 kg inside), or customized on request. Storage: keep in a cool, dry and well-ventilated warehouse, seal tightly against moisture, avoid direct sunlight and high temperature. Shipping: classified as self-heating substance (Class 4.2, UN 3342); transport only by compliant dangerous-goods carriers.

Safety: decomposes in contact with acids, releasing irritant gases such as carbon disulfide (CS2). Wear a dust respirator, protective gloves and goggles, and keep the workplace ventilated.
